Just thought I would share what I believe is just about the best popular media article on the effect of Class in contemporary British society that I have ever read; Jenni Russell in The Times today.

In particular because of one line that sums up a very persuasive argument about why neither the Tories or Labour adequately confront the issue:
I think it neatly gets at why neither party's approach has been successful for slowing the growth of social divisions in Britain.

Labour doesn’t want to look too closely at behaviour and character. The Tories, on the other hand, don’t want to confront the realities of structural privilege.
I think it neatly gets at why neither party's approach has been successful for slowing the growth of social divisions in Britain.
