what happens if you put metal in the microwave :shocking:

LIGHTNING!!!

There was a bit of butter left in the tub so I popped it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it but there was a bit of foil left on the top.

Blue sparks and microwave did not sound happy!

Argh hope it is ok!

put a CD in it. Or just watch it on youtube. Damn you youtube! Look what you've done. You stopped young kids doing science and research.

Look what you can do with a microwave and a lightbulb or a burning matchstick. Does the word "plasma" ring a bell (outside of green blob shooting guns in sci-fi flicks?). Go, look at it.

And now stand back please, I'm going to use science.

    Plasma in Microwave

I've done that before, was melting some galaxy in the microwave and there was a tiny bit of foil left on it, it made a big bang and loads of blue sparks!

Yeah I'm awful at that too.
I once put my Ex's favourite bracelet in the microwave (very bad I know) when she had went completely mental at me.
She was devastated so I blamed it on her flatmate and she still hasn't found out it was me haha
    I win crazy bitch lol

    lol why the microwave?

I have no idea. I was just standing in her kitchen and she stormed off, as she does, and it was just sitting there. The first place I could see to put it was there. So in it went.

I do believe the arcs of electricity don't actually harm the microwave at all, it's just advisable to not make it happen in the first place, having said that... a CD in the microwave is pretty cool.

As is Thermite and Ice. That's amazing.

and 1 million match heads going up in smoke at the same time too.

I put a naan bread in the microwave in the paper thing it comes in not realising it has foil in it. The microwave turned into box of lightning and smoke poured out of it when I opened it. The naan was ok though it smelled a bit like ozone.

Not you, you silly cow :)

Some old people, and some people in general, don't seem to think that tin foil, those foil takeaway containers and gold rimmed cups are metal. Makes for a lot of fun

When I did home-ec back in school, I was told that 2 materials in the microwave were a no-no. Metal was one and that other was wood.
