There was a genuine discussion going on on this thread:

and now it's closed?

Thanks for the quick reply. There wasn't spamming going on. The thread was discussing a topic about which there was news.
The spam was removed, so the mod post said.
Isn't spamming where someone is offering something for sale (like those "BUY NOW", VIAGRA, PENIS ENLARGEMENT, etc) crap e-mails that have zero to do with what is being discussed?
The information that I was bringing to that thread was extremely on topic and very much related to that discussion and was valid in that there is genuine news relative to that thread.
I suppose it's pointless trying to argue but just struck me as rather impolite when an active discussion was taking place on that thread and the discussion was very much on topic.
If you have something genuine to add to the subject that's not spam then you can make a new thread.
Yes, it was active. Folks responded to what I added. Perhaps you're right about starting a new thread but it struck me as more sensible to stay on topic in a given thread rather than springing a thread out of nowhere.
Its not that hard to find if looked for
No - spamming isn't just the really obvious form of advertising - but choosing a username that's the name of a product and then linking to articles about it is definitely spam and was reported as so by several users. You're welcome to stay on this website if your participation in discussions is legit, but if you come online and drag up an old discussion just to promote a product, then yes, it is necessary to close the thread.
Fair 'nuff. Thanks for the clarification.
Cheers
Thank you, I understand now with MrG's and your explanation.
Cool.
