Part-time Undergraduate degree

Hi there.
I just wondered if anybody has any experience of studying part-time for an undergraduate degree, particularly at a "later" stage, i.e. late-Twenties, early-Thirties and beyond.
I'm 27 and it's something that I'm seriously considering. I did start an undergraduate degree when I was 19 but dropped out in 2nd year with personal problems. Since then I have moved towns and have been working in social housing development for a few years and I'm progressing OK.
I was just wondering about other people's experiences, particularly with the workload when allied to a full-time job, costs, the potential to meet new people and make new friends - you know, just the potential benefits (and disadvantages, I suppose).
Thanks in advance for your help.
