I do agree, the freedom of speech in the the UK is far higher in the sense that people will allow each other their own opinions, even though (and i'm not sure of this) i have been told that the US has greater laws protecting this (yet your freedom of information act is just being brought in? we've had it for nearly a decade)

tbh, don't take this as an attack, but i do see america as quite prudish. Me and a friend were talking about harmony (chain of very good -but expencive) sex shops in soho, the main one being on oxford street. An american girl on her semester abroad at our uni, said that in her state sex shops were illegal! and surely its only very seedy people that go to them... WTF???? I don't know many people that haven't been into one, even if it was just as a laugh. maybe its because of the amount of evangelicism in the US compared to very little in the UK...

Come and become a UK citizen! slightly warmer than Chicago, Free health care, better food (so i'm told?), and plus we're all over here!

What a horrible invasion of privacy. Ever thought about being a clinic escort? If I was ever in the US, I'd do it, even for a smear test I'd feel better seeing a friendly face walking me to the clinic and telling me not to worry etc.

I think the thing that bothers me the most about when I see people picketing abortion/obgyn clinics in the US is the fact they can't stop being so effing nosey. My general rule in life is if someone is doing something and even if I don't agree with it, it doesn't DIRECTLY effect me, I'll let them get on with it.

Sadly some people are so brainwashed by their beliefs and religious dogma, they can't even consider the possibility that they may be wrong. For some reason they feel they have the right to act that way because it's the work of a god. It's disgusting that they are allowed to harass people like that.
