Why is that wearing black cloths make you look thinner?

Because you blend into the background in dark rooms

or you blend into a group of goths...and they are nearly all anorexic...

on the serious side, its just an optical illusion, because black absorbs light rather than reflecting it, and thus you don't see the reflection like you normally do, you just see a lack of reflection.

I think it is something about the lack of shadows and what not on your clothes so it hides your unwanteds better. I watch far too much trash tv sometimes.

and i need to wear LESS of it cos i'm skinny enough as it is and I probably look like I'm wasting away in all the black i tend to wear (though not at the mo - i'm khaki/blue and black today!) lol

Hi i wear black top +jeans +stuff always jazz it up with silver jewelery went portugal last year+my mum said i suit colour so much better than black i try not to wear it al time now im size 16

They don't, apparently.

Trinny and susannah did an experiment in Covent garden, where they got 5 women to wear black, stand in the middle of a crowd, then ask the crowd to guess their weight. Then they did it, whilst in colourful clothing.

Funnily enough, their guesses were that they weighed less when in colour and were significantly heavier whilst wearing black.

Maybe thats cos black is quite a dark, heavy colour

i seem to go from extremes, i'll either wear masses of colour in a hippy/cyber goth way, or keep to black....

Or they overestimated the women's weight as they made the assumption that they must be heavier because they're opting to wear black.
