Young Scot, the national youth information agency for Scotland, is calling on its friends and partners across Scotland to help them find inspirational young people to enter into the Sunday Mail & Lloyds TSB Young Scot Awards.

Now in its fourth year, the Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of Scotland?s young people. Young Scot is looking for young people that have made a positive difference: unsung heroes who are worthy of recognition; young people who have improved their community and/or Scotland; or young Scots who have been an inspiration to Scotland and its people. Nominations are open until 20th February, but we?d encourage you to nominate now by logging on to www.youngscotawards.co.uk.

Three finalists in each of the 13 categories will be selected and will receive a VIP invitation to the awards ceremony in Glasgow?s Old Fruitmarket on Thursday 9th April where the winners will be revealed. The event is now an established annual highlight in the calendar and guests last year included First Minister Alex Salmond and X-Factor winner Leon Jackson, as well as stars from TV's Hollyoaks, River City, Chewin' The Fat and many others.

The categories are:
  • Sport (sponsored by Lloyds TSB Scotland)
  • The Arts (sponsored by Young Scot?s Arts Action Fund)
  • Democracy / Citizenship (sponsored by Scotland?s Commissioner for Children and Young People)
  • Health (sponsored by NHS Health Scotland)
  • Entertainment
  • Environment
  • Volunteering (sponsored by Scottish Qualifications Authority)
  • Community (sponsored by the Scottish Government)
  • Heritage (sponsored by Historic Scotland)
  • Unsung Hero (sponsored by ACPOS)
  • Enterprise
  • Cultural Diversity (sponsored by Careers Scotland)
  • Sunday Mail Readers Award (sponsored by the Sunday Mail)

Remember, these Awards aren?t necessarily about being the biggest and best. We also want to hear about the smaller projects and achievements that have taken place in local communities and made a real difference.

If you have any questions regarding the Young Scot Awards or would like further information please log-on to www.youngscotawards.co.uk or phone the Young Scot InfoLine for free on 0808 801 0338.

Best Regards,
Young Scot Team
