I think a disproportionate number of houses with stairs have 13 stairs, and I'd like to prove it to my sister, who doesn't believe me.

    11 without the landing and 13 if you count the two that split to the other 2 landings

    We have 2 sets of stairs and both have 13 steps.

    My parents' house also has 13 stairs.

    we have 4 sets of stairs :p

    first is 11, second is 12, then 5 and then 17 :)

    The same as what most people have already posted - 12 steps, or 13 with the landing. I believe that this is the norm since 7 foot to a level became standard.

    I don't think we have as many as 13 because our ceilings are very low but I will check when I get home!

    Counting the landing would be a step you would take, but actual "steps" between the two floors should be what is taken. Well thats what i think anyway.
