Panic attacks

Ever since I was about 13, I've had panic attacks caused by a fear of death. They've never been all that regular, but I'm finding they're happening more and more and they are horrible. It sounds stupid maybe but I was wondering do you think it's worth going to a doctor about or will they just think I'm wasting their time? I doubt there's much they can do about it. I'm just wondering if it's linked in with some other stuff that's happened to me (none of it terrible, but I lost one of my best friends suddenly two years ago - she was 25 - and have had quite a bit of stress lately) and I feel like things are building up inside me and I'm not too sure where to turn to try and work it out.
Sorry for the convoluted post, I'm not looking for pity as I think I'm being quite pathetic really. Just wondered what people thought.

There is a bit of info on thesite too.
Your doctor may be able to teach you some coping tecnhiques to manage them and minimise the length, or refer you onto someone who will.
I really feel for you as I have suffered from panic attacks over the past 8 years and so does my mother. Mine are also mainly linked to a fear of death.
I would see a doctor if I were you. They certainly won't think you are wasting their time (or a good doctor shouldn't!). They may refer you to a counciller as it may be linked to underlying problems.
Over the years I have learnt some techniques to cope with mine myself although it is very hard.
Let us know how you get on at the doctors and PM me if you want to chat further from someone who understands. It can sometimes be bard to understand them if you have never had one, or at least it was for me until it happened to me!
Good luck x
