Mouse problem in Vista

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hi all,

I've got an Acer machine with Vista. I've always had problems with the mouse seizing up but now it's not working at all. It doesn't make a difference whether I plug an external one in or work off the touchpad.

There's nothing online that I can see - any ideas?

Thanks.

    probably a driver issue.

I'd remove the divers, reboot, see if your usb mouse works then get some off the acer website.

What model do you have? I'll look up the drivers for you.

I'd remove Vista myself .. LOL

You can also try a Linux Lived CD to rule out any physical problems with the hardware - if the same problem occurred under a different OS then wouldn't just be driver related but most likely is.

I'd try to find new drivers from the producer website. I've had some issues with an MS mouse myself in Vista

Thanks. A different USB mouse is doing the trick at the mo - I'll try to live with it since Acer customer service is consistently useless. I have an Aspire 5920, btw.

So just for the topic of the vista conversation,

It had nothing to do with vista... right :D

You'd have to test the mouse in another pc to determine that
