web hosting / VPS

Hello

I have web hosting at the moment where I have about six web sites and sub-domains set up. It's alright, and pretty reliable, but it's not the cheapest and it's sometimes a bit slow running.

So any recommendations for hosting or VPS?

MUST allow -

Multple domains + subdomains.
Mysql
PHP
Good quality email forwarding
Perl CGI

Should ideally allow (because otherwise it's a pain to do some things)

Shell access

We use Heart Internet (http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/) - we have around 25-30 sites on their hosting at the moment + more as a reseller.

Meets all of your criteria including SSH access.

I use an American company that now has servers in the UK - pay like £50 a year for hosting as many site as I want.

They offer loads of things on the hosting side of things but they're a bit pricey for domain names so if I was using them I'd recommend you use them for the hosting and someone else for the Domain names but point them to the hosting which works perfectly.

I get 5GB of space and 100GB a month of bandwidth - I don't know anyone else that can offer that on a UK based server for £50 a year.

PM me if you want the name though.

    What sites do you have?

I use 1&1, not had a problem so far, they have a lot of tools in there too.

I didn't realise there was a few webmasters here. What do you guys do with your websites? Are they monetized?

The reason i'm asking is i'm launching a new project soon in a growing market hehe :)

    My friend runs one: http://www.mrgigabit.com/

If you speak to him you might be able to come to a good deal, I dunno, but he knows what he's doing at any rate!
