Okay, need quick and direct help.

I have a Dell Insprion 6400 - Over 1.5 years (one and half :))

Now recently i've been dual booting with Darwin boot to use Mac OS Leopard.

As most of you know im using Vista.

Now when I start the laptop, the fans dont work, when im past the boot loader, and loading windows the fans cut in like normal, for about 5-10 mins, then just cut out.

I've only just noticed it in windows, but the fans do not work at all in mac.

EDIT

My fan works using a program I downloaded off the web only @ high speed. :(

Time for a new laptop?

what exactly is this post about?

Are you looking for a fix or an excuse to buy a new notebook?

Is it since you started using darwin boot?

I'd recommend checking the bios settings and seeing if you have accidentally disabled fan speed monitoring / etc.

    DG - Nooo, but maybe!

Shy - To be honest, I only noticed it stopped in windows the past day, and from what I remember in mac it's not worked at all but again, I've noticed till the other day.

I've gone through the bios, theres nothing to indicate i've disabled it or anything.

I've tried flashing the bios again to see if it might 'kick start' the fan, but again no luck.

A notebooks's fans are only supposed to come on when they are needed - I don't see where the problem is.

Whoops, made a fool out of my self.

I turned this program off, that I downloaded to kick start the fan for about 30 mins, and what do you know - The fan came on!

But I do think its taking too long to kick in though, before it use to be on running all the time
