Why are academies and faith schools better?

Think this might have anything to do with it?
However, a significant minority of schools in our sample appear not to be compliant with the code, of which a disproportionate number are voluntary aided or foundation schools.

Come on, did anyone really wonder what they mean when they say the parents must be a "practicing Christian?"

There are a couple of radio phone ins right now about the subject (I was listening to the one on Radio 5) and caller after caller was saying how the schools were all but demanding a "voluntary" contribution from parents on a regular basis. A school even sent remittance slips and a letter informing parents that their contribution "is now due".

    Thieving cunts.

No faith school should receive a single penny from the State. Ever.

They did the same to us, even called a group of us die-hard one's who wouldn't pay it and asked that our "voluntary contribution" had to be paid soon. Never paid it once. :D

That's not just the faith schools though, my personal experience of local schools at home was that the 'nice' non faith ones were the worst for 'voluntary' contributions.
