Help us redesign TheSite.org

SystemSystem Posts: 8,629 Staff Team
Yep, it's time to drag thesite.org into the 21st century with a brand new redesign.

This is going to be taking place in the next month or two - it's a big job and won't happen over night.

So how can you help?

What we are after is a group of dedicated users who we can throw design ideas at from time to time - screenshots and the like.

That way we can see if we're on the right path or completely getting it wrong. Either way, it will be good to know.

If you're keen to pass judgement on the design direction thesite.org takes, then mail me on [email protected]

I'll contact you in a couple of weeks when we need your thoughts.

Thanks in advance,

Dom

    Coloured flashing stars for all!!!

    Gotta say I like the general layout of theSite, but are you referring to theSite's main body of information, the boards or both??

    The whole site, although it will affect the main content sections of the site more than the boards.

    Flashing stars are available - to the highest bidder.

    Well I have a few contacts who could probably get you an anchorman position for BBC news, you wouldn't have to be reporting in the field for Sky anymore, how about that then eh?? <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"> <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"> <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

    And for Karla I just happen to have a spare US F-111 fighter/bomber laying about, all the fun of a fighter but plenty of carrying capacity for her bags of swag.

    Well, that's a tempting offer, but where would I park the damn thing? I was going to ask for a tank instead, but they're so last year. Hmmm.

    Back on topic, everybody mail Dom if you want to be involved with the upgrades at TheSite.org

    Just a suggestion, what about incorporating flash technology into your website so you have moving parts. If used correctly thesite will look amazing. Heres some wbsites that have utilised flash to the full;

    1. www.dennisinteractive.com
    2. [URL=http://www.egomedia.com (goto agents its well smart!!)

    These sites take a while to download for modem users, the site below doesnt take long at all but is still as smart;

    1 [URL=http://www.dj-communications.com (can be a bit hard to find though!!)

    Change the F with the w and you have got me in one <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif">

    I dont think that would be any good, because from my experience the majority of people here are stuck with stone age 56K modems, unlike us people with super fast 560K cable modems, HAHAHAHA

    Who writes the reports for thesite? I wouldn't mind having a bash at that.

    I'm crap with computers, but i could give ideas on the design.

    We (Dom, Karla, Susie and Matt)write the content for TheSite http://www.thesite.org/about/us/staff.html

    If you want to contribute, you could always try writing a rant...look here for more info http://www.thesite.org/jobs/

    As for helping with the design mail dom:

    A chatroom woudl bring it into the 21st Century as such, I think. I also wouldn't mind having a go at an article or something.

    I guess another little touch that you could bring in would be a different font or something on the boards, or the ability to post in different colours?

    Also, for the rest of Thesite, if you used different fonts in articles and so on, instead of the one that is always used (dunno what it's called?!)

    How about TheSite run a compertition amongst message board posters to design a new slogan for TheSite? Winner gets it displayed beside TheSite logo?

    sorry, can't expect you to know, but we already did that ages ago, that's where the "suck it and see" came from.

    an individual chat room for each of the board sessions would be fab, how about some sort of award for the best points and help put across on the boards ? also some sort of system which would make it easier to locate fellow users which live locally if people want to meet up etc.....

    No, have you ever been in a chatroom? Do they EVER resemble the topic that they are supposed to be about?
    One chatroom for the whole site would be a good idea, but you have the problem of people saying things they shouldn't in a chat room, etc possiblity of more problems from people meeting up and such.
