Night time abdominal pains

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
:(

I haven't had a full nights sleep for two months now because of abdominal pains.

I've been referred back to my specialist at hospital but I doubt I'll get an appointment until next year.

I supose I'm just having a moan.

So far I've been managing to get to work and everything... but I'm getting more and more tired and I want to look for a full time job after christmas; which I can't do unless this is sorted out.

I think the only possible thing they're gunna be able to do for me in have more surgery as well; which sucks a bit.

Just feeling a bit down and needed to off-load cos I've been trying not to keep talking about it to my family cos they all worry about me too much - especially my mum.

And the stupidest thing is; I'm feeling almost guilty for going back to my specialist about this because last time he saw me he gave me the impression that unless I was in unbareable agony again he was reluctant to do anything more for me and I'm worried he's going to think I'm fussing about nothing.
But I have quite a high pain threshold and I think I may have been ignoring pains which could be a cyst or something - as the pains have mostly been at night and my last cyst bothered me mostly at night.
Not really sure why else I'd be getting pains in my abdomen when I'm lying down - if anyone has any other ideas?

OK rant over.

    Have another big hug.

There aren't by any chance any painkillers that work for you but also knock you out? When I had completely different pain that was stopping me from sleeping my GP suggested I tried tramadol, which I'd previously stopped taking because it made me really sleepy. But it worked really well as a pain killer, and got me more sleep.

I don't really know much about abdominal pains or this kinda stuff, but if you're in pain again and worried then you really shouldn't feel guilty about going back to a specialist. It's his job to help you and if he's going to be a prick over it, then look for someone else.
    Hope everything goes ok. :)

I too get abdominal pains at night, my mum seems to think it could be IBS [Irritable Bowel Syndrome]

Thanks for that but I really have no symptoms of IBS and the pain isn't what IBS pain is discribed as.

Thanks for all the hugs people.

Co-codamol tends to knock me out... the trouble is my pains tend to start about 3.30 - 5.00 in the morning. If I take it before bed the pain killing bit will have worn off by then and if I take it when I wake up I'll still feel knackered in the morning and be zombified all day.

    Ho hum pigs bum.

    ^^ That's a bit of a sod.

Might be worth trying an alarm at 0230, swallow the stuff and roll over and go back to sleep. Never know, might get lucky and have the zombie worn off my morning, but enough effect through the night to keep you sleeping for the rest of it.

Was suggested to me by a pain management nurse, said it worked for some people really well, and not for others but was worth trying. Depends how much taking the stuff in the middle of the night affects your sleep.

How about Bentonite clay? As strange as it sounds it works wonders. Especially with candida sufferers. Also, I recommend a water filtration system much like Nikken markets. The pH level of the water and other fluids you ingest have a lot to do with how healthy your bowels get. :thumb:
