Artificial Sweetners

Does anyone use them?

If so how much, which ones and why? And are you worried about the possible side-effects?

I drink up to 1 to 3 large cups of tea a day with about 2 teaspoons of brown sugar per cup. (one teaspoon = approx 4 grammes of sugar)

so approx consuming 16g to 24g of sugar per day in that alone. (bare in mind a single 330ml can of coca cola contains approx. 35g of sugar) Therefore was looking into sugar alternatives.

BTW you might find this Documentary interesting .. about how one sweetener may be linked to all sorts of things including Brain Tumors:

I use sweeteners all the time now, including Aspartame. I never really thought about the side effects - only how much less fattening they are than sugar

There are lots of sweeteners around though some of which don't have Aspartame.

I use Candarel or the Sainsbury's own brand (only 53p for tons of it). The Sewetex are disgusting though.

Another alternative you could use it fruit sugar or honey.
