What's Everyone doing on the 2nd Jan 2008?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
For last 3 years NYE has been on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday and even on the Sunday they give you Monday off.

This year it's on a Monday ... so Monday is a holiday but then Tuesday you're supposed to go to work ... :eek2:

BTW asking cos thinking booking places to accommodation over NYE

Anyone actually planning to go into work on Tuesday?

I'd love to go on holiday for new year. Maybe a ski resort somewhere would be nice.

    Fuck going to work!
I might be in Thailand for NYE, and if I'm not then I'll be going a few days after.

Either way, I'll be spending the next day recovering.

I'm not a big fan of NYE. Like most things, it tends to be a letdown.

I expect I'll be at work. I'm not using up my holiday allowance on the second day of the year.

Erm... if NYE is Monday then Tuesday is NYD, and that's a Bank Holiday. So, no working for me...

Yeah just realised i'm getting my NYE and NYD mixed up - so I assume Scottish get two days in a row off?

Just feels weird having it on a weekday after a few years of having it on the weekend.

I'll be abroad over Christmas from my job training so it's likely they'll punish me by making me work on NYE. :p

I'll be out of normal holidays from November onwards so it's 50/50 chance I'll be working.

At most it's two years running... it couldn't be more than that.

Inverness Caley Thistle at home, 7.45pm kick off.

The first 5-10 days of January are just a blur usually.

blackpool for NYE and then the burnley vs blackpool game at bloomfield rd on NYD, thats the plan at the moment, then back to work on the 2nd.

i dont see what the big problem is? surely you dont need more than a day to recover at least partially? also if anyone is honestly considering going out NYD night then wise up, its crap!

I've already booked the 2nd of january off a long time ago, seeing as my NYE generally doesn't end til late on NYD or early on 2nd Jan.

Yeah, they have 2nd off too

Well last time was Friday, Saturday and Sunday so the day after to recover is always a holiday for the last 3 years and / or you've had the weekend to build up to it or recover.

I will probably be working. As I will be working on NYE and NYD. I'm only allowed two out of the four holiday days (Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, NYE and NYD) off, and I'm going to be away visiting Rich's parents at Christmas.

I get bank hols off :) Unless I choose to do overtime, which is unlikely, so I too, shall be recovering.

Probably at work if I have a job at that point. And not still recovering as I dont celebrate new years anyway.

I'll be feeling a bit deflated because Christmas and NYE is over,

I have no idea what I will actually be doing. Hopefully, I will have had a successful, even enjoyable first term at university. I'd like to go home for Christmas, before going back to Manchester to celebrate with some new friends. That's what I'd like to happen, at least.

Same here. Last two NYE i've been seriously ill and gone out anyway. Try clubbing on NYE with a temperature and all those people. Not good.

    I'll be er asleep?!
