Overated Games

Have you ever played a game due to the hype surrounding it and then thought its hardly worth all the fuss?

Mine would be Gears Of War, don't get me wrong, good game looks nice but its a tad repetitive.

    I like gears of war, I think it does well for the 360 but to me the 10/10 ratings for it seemed a bit high considering it can be a little repetive in the sense that its shoot, dodge, shoot, dodge.

    I hated the bat things as well. :grump:

    Halflife games including CS, i tried so hard to like them, but couldnt. same goes for the Command and Conquer series.

    ^That, same with Morrowind befoer it. Most RPG's bore me to death. Those and Wow are the exceptions.

    I agree on Final Fantasy. They were good, but nowhere near as good as everyone said. Also Tomb Raider, though maybe it's because I was playing Zelda at the time instead. And Crash Bandicoot, though maybe it's because I was playing Mario 64 at the time instead.

    All Zelda games. I just don't 'get' it. Same goes for Final Fantasy. I sat with my mate while he played a few hours of it. Bored me to fucking tears.

    Quite a few times actually. There's some games I prefer watching than playing. Dead Rising being the most recent example. I would just usually fuck about on it, I couldn't be arsed doing the story. So when my mates came over we'd all just get stoned and I'd let them do the story missions.

    Halo online is an awsome game IMO. It wouldn't be so popular if it was a load of shite and Halo 3 is the game I'm most looking forward to at the moment. The Beta was the best online game I've played on the 360 so far.

    Well, you could say that about most of the games mentioned in this thread.

    But no one said it was shite (it's not, it's just nothing special in my opinion), just that it's overrated. Which I think it is.

    Popular and Shite? The Sims springs to mind here... yup, its popular, and its bloody terrible.

    Halo was an awesome concept for a game, it really was (even more so when it was still an RTS! I wish they'd develop a Halo RTS) but I just didn't think it was as good as it was made to be - online there are so many better FPS games that do so much more. Halo was generic. And I didn't find it that fun.

    And Final Fantasy and Zelda were mentioned above, I never "got into" those games.

    WoW and C&C, mostly. I'm not really a gamer...th eonly games that really interest me are those made before, say, 2001. :P

    cs still is the best online FPS (and most popular) even though its so old. shows how fucking good it is doesnt it! :D

    age of empires 2 is also class :yes:

    I agree with you 200% on Age of Empires II. I've got all of the AOE games, but the 2nd one was definitely the best. If you've played Warcraft II, then AOEII was the naturally the next game to play.

    I remember playing number two in utter awe. Some of the action was :crazyeyes I played it again the other day, it looks so dated now!
