Selling a necklace?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've got a gucci necklace that cost £890 in 2003, 19carat silver & sapphires.

Where would be the best place to sell such an item? I've heard that you rarely get a good amount on ebay when it comes to jewelery so i'm a bit reluctant to put it there yet.

It has a box with a pillow and bag and certificate of authenticity.

Any ideas where the best place to go is?

I doubt you'd get more than a 1/3 of what you paid for it from a jeweller.

Well they have to make a profit so it might be better to go for a private seller. You could always put it on ebay and set a reserve price to see how it goes.

Could you not put it in an auction? like a real life one? I'm sure there are specialist jewellery auctions.

If you are planning on selling it online, I suggest getting a much better picture of it, because tbh in the pics it looks like a cheap knock off....

I suggest ebay personally, but you will never get anywhere near as much back, as you paid for it - online, or by real jewellers/auctions.

    A) Why have you got a Gucci necklace?
    B) Take it to F Hinds next to little Tesco in town for a valuation
    C) Its Bunnie
    D) Why dont you ever buy me expensive jewellery? :p

Why pay that much money for that?! It looks like something from Argos.
