A high-level member of his administration has been convicted of criminal offences, and this is all he can say. They don't even pretend to shield criminals, they just say 'oh hes a good bloke really'.
He took the fall for Cheney in this one I think; theres very few other people who could have outed Valarie Plane...and they have the audacity to accuse others of being unpatriotic and unsupportive of those who 'serve their country'.
Incidently if anyone is interested in seeing precident for this type of arrogant criminality, theres plenty of it from the Nixon administration in a film called 'The US vs. John Lennon' which I saw the other day and enjoyed. Also Hunter S. Thompson's 'Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail' is very good.
