I've just started running to get fit (as opposed to losing weight) and was wondering what the best pre- and post- session foods would be?

I don't do much running besides HIIT for 20 minutes (mostly I do weights) so I don't know if the nutritional side of things differ, but I normally have a protein shake or home-made protein bar for post nutrition. Pre-nutrition just depends on what I'm eating on the day.

Oats/bowl of porridge in the morning when you wake up and/or an hour or so before you go running would be a good start.

That article may help, I've not had a chance ot read through it all but it seems a good source of info.

    About midday probably.

I also need to know about post-workout food as well.
