Talking about dyspraxia

I contacted a guy (loganzweb) about his article on dyspraxia, tere were hardly any on youtube so I decided to make one... Hope it helps some people.

Anyway, I was wondering if any people on thesite have dyspraxia and what it's like for them.

Do you have any special 'coping skills' for certain tasks?

Did you always get labelled as stupid or lazy in school?

What would you say the benefits of dyspraxia are?

i'm waiting for a definate diagnosis but my specialist teacher is pretty sure of it...

coping skills...notes, electric organiser, doing the L R thing with the hands...
i've got severe dyslexia as well so they really interlink...
i often try to wear shoes i don't have to do up, because it takes me ages...
i've been told it's a passport, but i'm not sure...
the diagnosis has been good, as i have quite a few problems communicating with people and my mum thought i was just me being a cow... it's early days tho...

Not sure if this is inclusive to dyspraxia but I find pictures help and imagining scenarios can help me to remember things. Also I'm absolutely useless learning in a manuel car so now I'm in an auto. My instructor has decided to self-diagnose me with ADD which is quite amusing. I find that once people find out you've got dyspraxia they're keen to label you with other difficulties.

During my Sociology exam I was given extra time and the special educational needs guy happened to be my invigilator. He was nice but he just seemed to assume I was special needs in that he talked to me slowly and decided to read the front of my exam paper to 'make sure that I had understood'. I felt like he was walking on eggshells with me.
I didn't get labelled stupid or lazy at school but I noticed the P.E teachers took extra time with me because they could see I wasn't exactly very good at catching balls etc. Nowadays I can tell some people think I'm thick but I've no idea if it's due to dyspraxia.

Having an excuse for being cack-handed.

edited to add: I liked your video tons! I identified with most of it..especially the P.E part. Good luck with the cooking. I'm doing a similar thing and find cooking the same thing over and over again helps me to remember how to cook things. For like 2 months it has been pasta dishes much to my boyfriend's annoyance.
