burlesque dancing stuff

(didn't really know where this should go so i chose here, sorry if it was the wrong choice)

I'd really like to put together my own burleque act together, primarily because i said at last years erotica that i could do better than dita von tease, (yep, that was a stupid thing to say considering i have a really bad sense of balance, and haven't danced in a dancing class sense for years), but for my own personaly sense of satisfaction i want to prove i can do i... and possibly go on to do a few shows next year...maybe but i'm really jumping the gun...

but how the hell would i go about doing such a thing? i have quite a few people than have been inspiring me, such as immodesty blaize (sp?), she has far more attitude than say miss tease...but theres quite a big scene around my way, and the whole thought of it is boosting my self esteem...so how would i do it?

it's basicially (quoting form time out) striptease with music and props, sometimes a little comedy as well...

I've met Dita Von Teese and I have her Jean Paul Gaultier Fashion Show invitation with her lipstick mark on it. I had no idea who she was at the time until someone mentioned Marilyn Manson so I went to where she had been sat and nicked it :razz:

find immodesty blaize's page and it will make so much more sense...

hell, i wouldn't want to be a porn star for all the money in the world...well...maybe...but thats besides the point...burlesque is far removed from porn...it's a show a performance, think caberet not porn...

A friend of a friend used to party with IB, she's out of the country at the moment but if I can get in contact, I'll try and bend her ear for information.

Have you read Dita's book on burlesque? She puts a lot of emphasis on finding your own style and signature moves. Do you have any ideas in mind? You might not want to share that though if you don't want your stuff ripped off

Are you involved in any fetish scene things? The LFS forums might be a place to ask (I won't link to it because of the content) but they might be worth a shot. I was out last night at Torture Garden and they had a fair few shows on, some featuring burlesque performers, I think the TG websites links to the people responsible, if that's what you had in mind.

I absolutely love love love burlesque. It's something I'd consider doing myself, but I want to do some fire dancing first

i was thinking of starting off small, like at the night they do at the bethnal green working mens club (i don't think a "working man" as such has set foot in the place for many years but it's still called that)

TBH, i haven't had anything much to do with the fetish scene at all, but come next year things will start to change some what...i just want to be carefull of the crowd, for my safe and the reputation i will need if i decide to perform publicly
