    True, it was a bit poor that neither Trimble or Major was invited to the ceremony (probably worried that it would detract from our great leader). But Blair did a lot, not least of which was sidelining Mowlam, as she drove the entire process into a wall.

    That said if you want to know who was the most important, its the long forgotten Roy Mason, who realised on the back of failed initiative after failed initiative that you couldn't have peace until you had security and in fact all the peace overtures were doing was encouraging PIRA. He set in place the security policies which allowed peace to flourish...
