Scar treatment

Ok, so i went to the doctors yesterday and asked him if there was any cream he could prescribe me to get rid of a lot of scars ive been left with due to self harm. He's referred me to a dermatologist and said they may use skin camouflage or a different treatment.

Has anyone had skin treatment, and if so what kind and what was the procedure? Thanks
