And so I return to an old subject, in light of recent press stories.
What, if any thing, should be done about the situation in that country?

Perhaps arresting Mugabe next time he ventures out of his country wouldn't be a bad idea.
Applying a range of boycotts and sanctions as well as a full travel ban for the entire Zwimbabwean government could be a start.
one problem with the boycotts is that virtually notihng goes in or out of there of any value apart from food and it goes into the country
lol fat fucking chance.
maybe because they spent years telling us to leave becasue they could do such a better job themselfs?
Whose?
Britain should stay the hell out, it was partly Britain's meddling that helped Mugabe get into power in the first place.
Mugabe isn't going to live forever. The best we can hope for is someone sane coming out on top in the ensuing power struggle.
That reminds me of the old SWP poster during the invasion of Kuwait by Saddam, which said 'We wouldn't invade if Kuwait grew carrots' to which someone more intelligent than your average SWPer had added 'We would if were rabbits'.
Stopping their cricket team playing in the World Cup would be a petty and small jesture but a symbolic one none the less.
