Sick bug - tips for eating

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've got a sick bug, i'm over the worst now - seemed to be one of those 24hour things, but i'm not really hungry yet i want to eat something. We don't have any ginger biscuits and i'm drinking water. Is there anything anyone can suggest?

Can't think of anything off the top of my head, but you should try eating something light.

I posted something similar a few weeks ago, as did kangoo (I think!). You should find some suggestions in those threads.

I just ate dry white toast for a day or two after I'd stopped throwing up.

    Found them!

I find if I get a sick-bug I can't keep anything down until I really fancy eating something... Know what I mean? Nibble on toast and things obviously cos it's horrible when you're sick and have nothing to throw up.

I remember once craving spaghetti hoops on toast after a sick bug, and it was the first thing I kept down. Go with what you really feel like eating.

Flat coke. (And to make it flat, just drop a spoon of sugar in and let it sink to the bottom). :D

No idea, but it does. :)

Ballerina... In hospital nurses sometimes give people flat coke to help with nausea after ops and stuff. Not sure how it helps, but it seems to.

Part of it is the acidity, settles nicely with your stomach acids, and partly it's the high sugar content ina liquid form which means you get sugar into your system fast.

Cola syrup has been used as an anti-sickness remedy for donkeys years.

Flat coke is just a variation on the theme :thumb:
