ok, this merged both politics and student so i put it here.
in my time at secondary school:
a girl was raped
a guy wrapped a chair around my back
a teacher was punched in the face
a teacher was tripped up so she fell down the stairs
several guys have punched through windows
a guy hit another guy around the head with a metal pole
a guy threw a lit firework into a classroom full of kids
a guy threw a stone threw a window where we were all sitting on a table under it and got covered in smashed glass
i passed out after having a stone thrown at my head
someone dug a pair of scissors into my friends back
and thats just the ones i can think of off the top of my head and that i know of.
i just go to a run of the mill comprehensive school in the suburbs so its not like there's inner city gang related stuff, this is what joe schmoes kids get up to
were schools like this before nowadays or are they becoming increasingly violent places to be? also, if this is the state of schools in the future would you consider homeschooling children?

Excuse the ignorance, but if Grange Hill and local school pupils have taught me anything, most run of the mill comprehensives are like this.
Things are a bit different at my school. It usually involves laddish behaviour ( though weapons have never bein involved, well only in accidents) and damage to walls and smashed windows and stuff from people not being safe, and knowing Daddy can afford it.
I might try to find a private school in the hope that they'd have better discipline/parents who were interested in their kids enough to teach them how to behave but that might not be affordable either...
I guess we've just gotta hope things don't get any worse, and preferably a lot better... (I know that's naive, just can't think of any useful solutions!)
thats what im saying. alot of schools are like this, so its bad right?
Your school sounds quite scary though Zoe :eek2:
Don't!
I've been throug both state & private schools & Private is BY FAR the worst. They can't cope with the issue of violence amongst their kids & either try to institutionalise or channel it into the discipline system or just deny/cover it up for fear of parents taking their kids away. I have numerous outstanding complaints against those incompetent, malicous fuckwits. State schools are often only a little better but at least that sector as a whole is beginning to recognise & face-up to the problem.

Violence was and is big there, but they just act like it doesnt occur. I watched my (ex)mate get slashed 10/20 times across the face by another girl in my year, then we all chased her out of school and beat her up. We got stopped by 2 deputy heads who told us to just carry on
During school hours 2 or 3 lads completely smacked out on drugs, trashed the whole of the downstairs floor. Smashed computers, chairs etc. When i was 14, a lad in my Maths class threw a chair at the teacher. I even got thrown into the wall head first by some lad in my year, and again witnessed one of my mates hitting someone else in class and smashing his jaw apart.
Bullying is a big thing there. I myself have around 10 incidences reported on my permanent record, but i was never suspended or expelled for it once. I dont even think i had detentions for it. Fucked up!
and that was years ago (1992-97)
no one was ever killed at my school though
A boy in my tutor got pushed through a window once, there always used to be fights, but they've stopped now. That's basically it
Mr_Wobble
Same here :eek2:
These schools sound so scary to be in. Bullying, the odd fight, and a smashed window here and there. And that was it :eek2:
Seriously, I feel so sheltered, I'm almost embarrassed. I am at a grammar school 'cos of the area I live in (state-funded, I will add) and nothing like that goes on. A friend of mine was once suspended for hitting someone with a tennis racket, and a Y11 once pushed a Y8, but past that I can't think of any violence!
