all these threads about safe driving got me thinking.....
how difficult is it to do an advanced driving course. i dont mean difficult as in how hard is the test i mean how would i go about doing it? is it expensive? take a long time? do you have to go to specialist driving schools to do it? do you have to be a certain age/held a lisence for a certain amount of time or anything?
anyone here done it? do you think it was worth it?

well its not so much for the license cause thats pretty meaningless in the real world i just think it might be a good idea to be a better driver than most of the morons on the road and maybe protect myself.
also doesnt it push your insurance premium down a little?
can do if the insurance company recognises IAM membership.
The IAM is £85 altogether. http://www.iam.org.uk/
Never done it, would like to, but I still suck.
hmmm.... is that £85 for just the test, or for a course?
cause i couldnt just do the test id need to learn first. otherwise theres no point.
if its £85 for a whole course thats really not that expensive.
Yes, it's 85 squids altogether.
*gets ideas*
and mist i would hope thats the kind of stuff they would teach you. thats half the point as far as im concerned.
i should really learn something about car maintainence as well, i know absolutely nothing about whats inside my car. you turn the key and press the accelerator and it goes and tahts about the extent of my knowledge, it would be very helpful to know at least how to do basic stuff like jump starts and all the rest. see i cant even give examples of what i should know cause i dont even know that!
last time i broke down the RAC were very good and helpful but still i felt very stupid when i couldnt even tell them what was wrong. just "er... i was driving and then it stopped and now it wont start again... fix it please!"
well luckily or unluckily my car is far from modern.
