There's all this stuff about people making ricin to attack everyone...
Has no one actually realised that ricin is a natural bacteria on rice?
It's the fifth most common cause of food poisening in the UK!
Are they going to go to China to arrest everyone who owns a paddy field?!?

ricin found on rice isn't anywhere near strong enough to kill large quantities of people, if it was we wouldn't eat rice.
And ricin itself is found in castor beans anyway, which are used for their oil.
Ricin is extracted from Castor beans (Ricinus communis, hence Ricin).
If it is found in rice, then the quantities would be small.
If ricin was present on rice, and was removed and stored in large enough quantities to be worrying to the authorities, then there might be a problem.
I wasn't aware that it was found on rice, though.
As tocins go, Ricin is not something which could effectively be used for mass terrorist attack since by comparison with anthrax it would take 4 metric tons of ricin to cause the same level of mass destruction as 1 kilo of anthrax (enough for a 100 Km radius).
Put another way, that basically requires 4,000 times the quantity of ricin to achieve a similar mass threat. Hardly the toxin of choice for terrorists seeking to remain as unnoticed as possible.
If you read my post, you will find out where the name comes from.
After all, most have recently been found with rice in...
