If techno is so great why does it need sex appeal on its TV ads to sell itself?
Dont you think with the commercialisation of music its just a low-cost, quickly produced, easy to rip off bunch of computerised noises set to the SAME tempo for EVERY song? (and yes ive tried mixing my own songs, on a good 16 track; its time consuming and the end result sucks).
I personally hate clubbing a LOT, and this is from experience too, ive been to clubs many MANY times when I thought I had to just to be sociable (altho you cant hear each other talk). EVERY time i went they sucked. The music sux, the drink costs LOADS and even when I was drunk it sucked and the girls were annoying.
So my friend suggested hard drugs, and i figured: if you need anything like that to 'enjoy' yourself, im better off wasting my time posting in forums for idiots to flame me.
Do you not feel like corporate sheep?
If you bothered to read this then congratulations, your not hungover.

but in a forum where everyone agrees with me id have no discussion
answer one of the points i posted above, there arent many, and prove to me that techno/clubbing is non of those.
as a side point; pop is worse
I mean ones that arent constantly promoted all over the tv?
Hendrix? the Kinks? Radiohead? Nirvana? the Beatles (other than the poppy stuff)?
Im bothering to post all this shite cos all i see is ... yay techno, hooray for techno etc.etc.etc. and "all rock sounds the same" whenever i turn the TV on.
Im convinced that most people only like it cos its promoted more than the shit i like (see above). And if you didnt think that by listening to it everybody would suddenly be impressed by you, then i dont think youd bother with it.
answer to RNT: I'm 20, in my second year of Uni, ive been clubbing enough and ive been to enough good festivals to know the difference.
I listen to and like all those, and STILL also like clubbing. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's crap (unless it's garage, DnB or boy/girl bands ). Some of the songs are amazingly well done, with an interwoven mix of beats and tunes that combine to produce an amazing experience You just need to open your mind . I don't take any drugs, yet I still enjoy it. Some people like different things, accept it. I tend to like lots of different genres of music, and my friends accept it, as they know that I don't like a genre for what it's called, but like particular songs in that genre.
So do lots of other things, like newspapers, cars etc. Do they all suck as well just because they use sex appeal to make customers buy there products?? Trying to say you dont use cars or read newspapers??? Think not, daft thing to say
Sounds like your a wannabe DJ that sucks really bad and therefore doesnt like anything to do with dance music. Just leave it to people that have got sense and taste mate, you lack in it and your also doing us a favour not producing it. But hey thanks for seeing that yourself.
Big deal, find something else to do like knitting or stamp collecting which seems like an obvious choice for yourself. Seems like you being sociable isnt accepted by normal people, take the hint and dont go clubbing.
Your friend suggested it as a last attempt for you, due to the fact that you're a freak. Why your friend wants to be scene with a moany faced tit like yourself is beyond me. Not everyone needs drugs to go clubbing, some people do but not everyone.
These artists albums are always on TV when they have new albums out, just because they dont produce as much as all the companies that promote "techno" as you would call it, because you have something against "techno" so much, you notice it a lot more, if you looked a bit harder than the surface then you would see many adverts for music!
Are you always a moany faced wanker that wants everything your own way???
Not all clubs play dance, trance 'techno' etc. If you try hard enough you will find a club which plays whatever kind of music you like.
I go to rock clubs where I live and enjoy it loads better than clubs which play 'techno'.
There are clubs to suit every taste.
Techno basically sums up all the 'sub-genres' your creating for yourself to make you feel just that little bit more special:- for the guy who mentioned a million marvellous identities you can brand yourself as.
Im pointing out that the music i like doesnt need to whore itself for people to like it.
*your right about bands not being from this era
you guys have had a few good shots at it tho, but still resort to just 'god your miserable' , 'fuck off wanker' , which is stupid.
But yes, I do hate the commercialisation of the scene, which is why I hate trance/hardhouse/hard trance/whatever they're calling it this week/NRG, 'cos its lowest common denominator rubbish.
I'm with you on that one.
Odelay: Have you tried hard drugs in club enviornment with tons of people, lights, dancing, and techno? Once you have, you'll understand why other people do it. I didn't get it either until I tried it.
Yes. That would be why the Beatles music meant so much to them, they sold the rights to M. Jackson. The Kinks- Boundry pushing 60's band who's top boy (Ray Davies) went on to right and produce the hard hitting, no holds barred album "Waterloo Sunset". Who can forget such tracks as "Mr.Pleasant" and "Holiday Romance"!! And finally Raidiohead (who i lived near to in Oxford years ago) A group of posh boy's venting there rage at the public in between shopping at Waitroes!!!
You see most clubbers have a good knowledge of music. Just can't be arsed with it because it's all about the past. Drugs have allways been a part of music too. How many people at doors gigs do you think you'd of found not off there face on acid?
Personally i just think you want to piss people off so they will reply to your thread. Maybe now you feel popular. So pull up your pants, get in that shower and down to the union bar!
I turned on that ch4 show 'rise'
All I saw for atleast 20minutes was exactly what my signature says. Its propaganda and I cant help but feel you like it just cos your suckered in.
Not only that, a few months ago i saw the band JJ72 on that show. They were only asked shit questions like 'do you think the formula of 3 people in a band is a bit done-to-death' and 'dont you think rock just sounds a bit same-ish'
adsl here, cya
then i watched some guy in Manumission (spelling) get inteviewed about how great everything was, 'do you believe your progressing as an artist' , 'its really mad here aint it?' , 'so whats it like to come this far in 'x' number of years?'
they went to the beach - with Sophie(the best looking BB3 contestant) - spent time with shots of gorgeous girls dancing in the sea, talking about the craziest things theyve ever done...... blah blah blah.
But do you think they'd go to Glastonbury, Reading.... anywhere with rock bands on.... and do the same? Of course not, its not that desperate. Its fucking lame, and as far as im concerned, if you count yourself among that shit-stupid crowd, your just as suckered in as everyone else.
And I think they would go to glastonbury and ask people about similar things, are you trying to say rock fans aren't interested in sex or good looking men/women?
Well you've totally persuaded me now.
I am going to quit clubbing and go to some more gigs.
Like this really good one I went to at hague hall in wigan a few years back, to see the verve. Man that was wild. It was full of all these carzy drunk northerners. Pointing at the stage, singing along and doing mad stuff like-er- throwing their drink over everyone. I don't lye when i tell you i had to throw away the top i was wearing because it smelt so bad of other people's b.o. Still it is sweaty work- jumping up and down in a group.
Which brings me to my next point. Who's the sheep- the man who wears what he want's, dances how he like's or the man stood with everyone else, facing the same way, singing the same song?
Please find an answer. It's quite amusing watching your tantrums!
What a class statement, sums it up in one!
Brilliant mate
Odelay, mind and buy a dummy tit the next time you're out.
If you really have such an aversion to it why dont you try and set up your own club night playing what you want to hear?
If your just going to rant about it and not actualy try and do anything to change it whats the point?
I would aggree that quite a lot of clubs arent really the greatest placest on earth, but have you walked in most pubs in the UK? Most of those are filled with drunk offensive people.
I think, as many have mentioned, it depends on where you go, if you dont like the 'corperate' clubs why dont you try and go to some free or sqwat parties?
Plus I really not sure about the term 'hard drugs' which ones are you refering to exactly. Yes drugs are linked to the clubs but then booze is to pubs. I'd aggree that a lot of people dont use drugs carefully but then a lot of people get too drunk, if you dont like it DONT GO!
Don't ever group D&B together with Garage and cheesey pop!
Why not? Theres loads of similarities, especially between breakbeat garage and the more jump up, ragga end of drum'n'bass/jungle. All part of the same scene if you ask me.
Look at the charts. There's commercial 'techno', commercial garage, hip-hop, rock, everything. You insult the entire rave-culture, from what you know of (what sounds like) the commercial end of it. You wouldn't hear me saying that all rock is crap because I've heard Crazy Town (who are shite), because I know that Crazy Town is the commercial end of it all.
Try going to a proper underground club, before calling it crap based on the commercial ones.
Not at all... if you were into D&B/Jungle the difference between the scenes is quite noticable - Jungle is wicked, Garage is gash!
Have a listen to ShyFX
Erm, RISE did do OBs and interviews from Glastonbury and Reading, and there was an extremely good reason for the lack of bikinis and dancing in the sea: they were filming in Glastonbury and Reading. *giggles*
Yes, I'm listening to it, and there is a huge similarity between it and the ragga end of the UK garage scene - rough breaks, deep bass, ragga chatting etc. Garage is a bit slower and has more soul/r'n'b elements, but they are very similar.
Have a listen to some of the pirates and you'll see.

The difference is in the Clubs, go to a garage event and your'll get lots of moody arses snorting their own weight in charlie and trying to look like 'the man' Why they dont just messure their dicks outside and get it over and done with I dont know.
Now go to a Jungle club and most, not all but most will be big fans of the music who are there just for that reason and couldnt really give a fuck about other people they just want to dance.
Also for some unholy reason they have started having garage rooms at hardcore events, fuck knows why so I guess you could say theres some cross over there. However they are in beat structure quite different.
Jungle clubs had that perception as well, back in the early 90's. Personally, I wouldn't know, I very rarely go to clubs these days. But the parties that I hear garage at round here (mixed up with jungle, dancehall, hip hop etc) are OK, the odd moody fucker, but you get that everywhere, generally everyone gets on and gets down.
Anyway, I was talking about the music - and there is a lot of crossover.

BTW a friend of mine's 18 year old son just came back from holiday in Falariki where he met and hung out with some members of So Solid Crew, and they were really nice and down to earth, not gangsterish at all. Dane Bowers was a twat though, apparently.
Even though there are similarities the difference is clear, well it is to me anyway. There's enough of a difference for me to dislike one genre and absolutley thrive on the other!
