Pre-moderation and age verification is planned to be mandatory from the week of the 13th. Support/General chat threads ran by staff won't be able to continue once pre-moderation is in place, all other threads will need premoderation but will still be available.

What's happened to the boards?
I’m sorry but it’s absolutely hideous the main bit, least with the other we could see when new stuff was posted…now we have to check every section and it’s really hard to read each category name

Hi all,
We wanted to share an update following the concerns raised by the community around the planned changes to the discussion boards.
As per our previous update, our legal team has now completed the necessary checks, and we are satisfied that we can proceed with Yoti as our age verification provider.
Thank you for your patience while this was reviewed. We know the delay has been frustrating, but it was important that we took the time to properly consider the concerns and really appreciate you raising them!
We had hoped to make the age verification check optional for a time period before it becomes a mandatory check, but unfortunately our tech team have advised it can’t be set up in this way. Therefore, we've taken the decision to push the implementation back to 13th April. Some timelines have also needed to be changed to allow for staff leave, as we want to ensure we have as many of us around as possible when these changes come into effect.
To clarify the timeline:
• Age verification will be implemented on Monday 13th April. From that point onwards, it will become mandatory and all users will be presented with the pop up to complete the check when they attempt to log into their boards account.
• The boards will be switched off overnight from Wednesday 1st April and from this point onwards our new operational discussion boards hours will be 9am-10pm.
• Pre-moderation will begin from Thursday 2nd April. This means that all comments posted from Thursday onwards will be moderated by one of our team.
We are hopeful that there won’t be any further changes to the above plans, but we will continue to keep you updated and answer any questions as these changes are brought in

Sorry but this is rather frustrating? We're getting so many mixed messages. First its happening one day and then its happening another and its just not consistent at all. Just like the fact part of the boards have changed yet we had no warning around that?
I still don’t get why they need to be switched off as opposed to posts being approved in the morning but I’m wasting my energy continuing to ask.
Why are the boards funny too, why when I go on the home page is it the new layout but on threads etc and whats new it’s the old layout still.
im so confused...

We were told yesterday that age verification and pre moderation would come in from 13th April, and now the pre moderation part is coming in tomorrow
There’s an ongoing discussion going on over on the venting thread about the layout issues and ways around them, if that helps you at all.

The mix is geniunely giving off lord farquad vibes here, with how this is being communicated across to the community. The 23rd we were told for age verification to start, then the 30th for it to be completed by along with the design update and pre-moderation, then age verification get's delayed but we're told pre-moderation, the design update and opening hours will still happen on the 30th anyway. Then come the 30th, nothing happens, and we're told then it'll all happen on the 13th, pre-moderation and age verification. Then it suddenly changes once again, this time with only one day notice for the boards switch off overnight, 2 days notice for pre-moderation, and zero notice about the boards design update which appears to have started to be implemented, before those doing so took a break mid update, having only updated a single page. All before even a single accessibility question was answered.

The original update post on this thread was posted on the 19th of March and explained that pre-moderation and overnight switch off of the boards was due to happen on the 30th of March. As explained, we have pushed this back by a few days to allow for staff leave, as we want to ensure we have as many of us around as possible to deal with any technical issues that could possibly arise. Premoderation and overnight switch off are therefore being implemented on Weds and Thursday of this week, instead of on Monday as was originally planned.
We apologise that in Verity’s last message it incorrectly stated that premoderation would be implemented on the 13th of April - this date only relates to age-verification.
The reason age-verification implementation was delayed was to allow for our legal team to look into the concerns that were raised regarding Yoti. As advised, this process has been completed and we are now in a position to move forward. The date of the 13th has been set to allow for staff leave, to allow Community users to make personal decisions on whether to complete the check on the 13th and to complete final technical tests.
We appreciate that the changes in dates may be frustrating, however, we are working with many teams in order to ensure these changes happen, including many third party developers. Therefore, sometimes, there are technical issues that are outside of our control.
We understand that as part of our tests, some of you may have experienced a few changes on the boards today. These are currently being looked into, but if you click on ‘discussions’ in the homepage, the view reverts back to normal.
