Open uni?

PetiteQuarkPetiteQuark Posts: 102 The Mix Convert
Ive come to the realisation that going in class in person isnt the best idea because i keep on getting distracted and losing focus alot, and i just hate the classroom enviroment, im thinking of doing an online course instead would tje open uni be a good idea? Im currently doing btecs in applied science and ngl i dont think its going exactly too well and ive retook classes alot. Im really with working from home when im alone or with projects and i become fixated on niche topics really easily.
Idrk if the open uni is a good idea because i really want to do that but my teachers are advising me not to because i will end up withdrawing myself socially but even then i never really talk to others in class or anywhere and most of the time my friendships dont really last long (except from 2 people)...

i think if you balance open uni and your social life you should be fine, ive considered doing open uni in the past but now i think that its not really for me because i cant even do college. what course are you thinking of doing?

Um I dont really have a social life at all. I struggle with making friends and well maintaining friendships, honestly i just get really distracted by classroom enviroments. Im thinking of doing physics online (i think the standard start or the basic start because i got a 5 in gcse maths and i want to improve my maths first) its just that physics is basically my special interest and im kind of obsessed witg it (sometimes i wish i wasn't lol)
Its just that everyone is telling me not to bc ill get a "culture shock" when i transfer into a uni thats in person (not online) but im gonna be genuinely honest i have absolutely zero interest in socialising at all, ive learnt from my past mistakes id rather just be left alone and be by myself, and i think being in an environment thats quiet and free of any distractions or comparisons would help me alot.

fair enough, physics is good because it can lead you into many careers. if you think that going to the open uni will be beneficial for you then go for it.

Btw how was it like studying at the open.uni? Is it reputable? Do employers care if you got a degree from there or is it like any other degree?
Also idrk how exactly a part time tuition loan works butim thinking of the January start course for physics

Im genuinely terrified of failing and ngl i feel that ill end up failing regardless if i study physics at the open uni or continue studying btecs at college like ngl i think im cursed lol.

i havent done open uni so i dont know, ive only considered going to it in the past. i also dont know how the part time tutition loan works as well. i think if you work hard and use the revision resources im sure youll do well. you can also ask for help from your professors as well, and i believe that theres an online community. i think that there is one anyways. if youre under 18 you have to get parental consent.

things would change because youre now over 18 so i think youll be able to apply for the part time tuition loan without any restrictions.
