@Cutelivejazz i promise your not bothering me at all. and i want to just tell you that you don't have any obligation to offer support to others when you yourself are struggling. Figuring out the right things to say can be tricky, and that makes it hard to offer support even in the best of times, so don't ever feel bad about it. Support is here for you because you deserve it. You don't have to earn it, you don't have to offer a certain level of support first to be able to get support yourself, you deserve support, and this is a place where you can get it. You aren't being useless. Just keep the science jokes running pls.

@DonnerKebab i dont have a science joke but I have a pretty cool physics fact. There are certain materials when cooled to a certain temperature called their critical temperature turn into super conductors this means that they have absolutely no resistance isn't that fascinating!?
  • CutelivejazzCutelivejazz Posts: 132 The Mix Convert
@DonnerKebab sixth form is weird the staff are meh and students well they're students so there's a decent split of assholes morons decent people and chill people. Honestly atm idek where I stand with my friend it's kinda exhausted and I miss my bestie she was like my favourite person we still text but it isn't the same

@Cutelivejazz that is pretty interesting. Sorry, had to step away for a moment. About the anxiety, do you feel comfortable talking a bit more about it?
  • CutelivejazzCutelivejazz Posts: 132 The Mix Convert
@DonnerKebab abt the anxiety i really dont know it might be the panic attacks I think I had like 5 consecutive panic attacks in the span of an hour it was terrifying and I was sat on the sixth form office floor with the pastoral teacher hyperventilating it was awful I also disassociated really bad but my friend cheered me up and idrk where we are like idek if she likes me well I think she does idk our friendship is complicated I just wanna go to uni and meet new ppl tbh

@Cutelivejazz that must be pretty difficult. As we spoke a little about a few days back, it's best not to rely on your friend, and not expect much from them given everything. It's better to expect to be let down by them if they've let you down before and be prepared for it, than to blindly trust them and to be let down by them unexpectedly.

Missing your bestie is completely normal, because it's very much a case that you don't see them every day i'm guessing like you would have before. There isn't much i can say about making friends, but i will say, at least there's some decent and chill people. i'm guessing the workload is a lot more than before too?
  • CutelivejazzCutelivejazz Posts: 132 The Mix Convert
@DonnerKebab the workload is huge im already behind on hwk it hasn't even been a week ive got a headache and am rapidly losing what little will I had to live lol. It's difficult and they're going to start further maths soon which im so happy abt cus basically we all begged the teachers and they caved in so we're doing it yay. But more workload tho tbh it's worth it imo I mean I love my subjects like I literally wake up and im like omg I have physics and maths and IT today im genuinely excited for the lessons so yeah it's worth it it's just the people that make it crappy but thats just people. I also have RE tmr and we're going to be going thru some pretty heavy topics so im probably gonna tell my form tutor and ask if I could skip the next two RE lessons since they're pretty heavy stuff and effect me deeply cus im a wimp.

@Cutelivejazz That sounds horrible. I know the answer to this is probably no, but surely they should have given you more support and put support in place for these panic attacks in future, like offering counselling or therapy, and management techniques. But at least you got cheered up after, even if it's a small consolation. And about uni, what course do you want to do?

@Redemption No you aren't. Things that are out of your control have made it extremely difficult for you. The poor job market, poor state of the economy, economic mismanagement from goverment, have all made it so that people are applying for hundreds of jobs, and not getting anywhere with them. As i said, 20 years ago, you would have been in a job, on the job market, working your way up. It's not your failure, it's the polticians failure. For example, 52% of year 2 medical doctors are unemployed (https://www.bma.org.uk/news-and-opinion/major-survey-shows-scale-of-doctor-unemployment-crisis). We have fully trained doctors, working Uber on minimum wage currently. It's a horrific job market. You are trying, you aren't giving up when so many others will have, your trying at every point you can, so no. You aren't a failure. You got failed, never had the oportunities that past generations had, and none of it is your fault. The things you can control, like not giving up, trying for interviews, still pushing through it all, and being geniunely willing to work hard and go on upskilling training courses to build your cv - all these things you can control, you are excelling at.

So no, you are not a failure bro.

@Cutelivejazz that's an awesome topic. And the cool thing with uni, is that there are thousands of people there from all over, people who moved from afar, people moving to the uni city for the first time, not knowing anywhere or anyone looking to make friends. There are sports clubs, societies, and all sorts of social events to make new friends. You'd be suprised by it all.

@Cutelivejazz you spoke a bit about those heavy topics the other day, and honestly, there is nothing wimpy about wanting to skip those topics. Wanting to skip topics that effect you deeply is not a case of you being wimpy, it's a case of your being smart, and looking after your own mental health, knowing how it will impact you. So there's nothing wrong with that.

And i'm really glad they're doing further maths. It's clearly a topic you love, so thats a bit of good news at least. And yeah, workload can be a nightmare. it's really important that you try and schedule things out if you can with your homework, so that you can have breaks, it's not overwhelming all at once, and it can help to prevent you falling behind a bit and having to do a marathon closer to when the work needs submitting. Could i offer you a few tips on managing large coursework workloads that i got taught.

@DonnerKebab please do any advice is welcome and its not like im not doing it I look at it and my brain just start screaming at me bc of how overstimulated I am and I have to literally force myself to sit down and study or do homework not because I dont like the subject but just sometimes bc of how overstimulated my brain is like for example I had to search up 16 key words bout websites and web design things like hamburger menus and F shaped patterns and my brain was so overstimulated that i had to force myself to sit down and do it and sometimes I cant even force myself to sit down I literally just cannot like idk how to explain it I physically cant do the work like I just cant and I just start crying (happened a lot during GCSEs) tbf it was probably burn out

I know that things are difficult right now, and there isn't much i can say that will make anything better, but i'll write up a list of the things tomorrow i got taught about dealing with large coursework loads, and about how to be the most productive you can be. There was a whole first year module dedicated to things like that, which might help.
