Introducing Good News Friday!

Hey everyone!
There’s a lot going on in the world right now, and it can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. So we thought it would be good to share a good news story every Friday to help lift our spirits and remind us that there’s still plenty of positivity out there.
This week’s story is a beautiful reminder of how something as simple as looking up at the sky can change your outlook.
It’s about someone who found some joy and a bit of healing by photographing the skies above every day. What started as a hobby turned into a daily ritual that brought a lot of good vibes. It’s a great reflection on how nature can ground us in the moment!
Are there any weather enthusiasts here? Do you have a favourite sky or sunset pic you’ve taken?
Hope everyone is enjoying the skies being blue today!

Love this @Owen ! This was the sky on my walk before work this morning. So beautiful!
Hey everyone, a little late to the Good News Friday party here, buuuut, wanted to share this positive news story I heard about yesterday!
A new marine reserve has been created off Ascension Island in the South Atlantic, becoming the largest fully protected marine reserve in the Atlantic Ocean, according to National Geographic Society Newsroom. This reserve will stop commercial fishing and mining industries to protect the area's biodiversity. Yey!
Here's a more detailed breakdown of what this means for the planet:
Location:
The reserve surrounds Ascension Island, a UK Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic.
Size:
It encompasses 440,000 square kilometers, making it the largest in the Atlantic Ocean.
Purpose:
The goal is to protect the area's exceptional biodiversity and allow marine life to recover from the impacts of commercial fishing.
Significance:
This designation is a significant step in ocean conservation, contributing to the global goal of protecting at least 30% of the world's oceans
What do you folks think about this?
That's fantastic news and it's so good to see a natural biome being protected right now especially the way the world is going in terms of the change in climate and overconsumption of food sources and materials too.
Lewes District Council (that’s a local town in Sussex) has made a huge step forward by officially agreeing to a new Charter of Rights for the River Ouse! This means the river now has special legal protections to help it stay clean, flow freely, and support the animals and plants that live in and around it.
This is the first time ever in England that a river has been given rights like this. It follows global examples where rivers in places like New Zealand, Colombia, and Ecuador have been protected the same way.
Lots of local people and organisations worked together along with legal experts to make this happen. They want to make sure that when decisions are made about the river, they think about the river itself too.
This move sends an inspiring message: rivers aren’t just things we use, but they're also they’re living parts of our planet that deserve respect and protection! Hopefully, this sparks more action across England to protect more rivers in the same way.
What do you think about this? Do you view rivers / trees / mountains etc as living things?
