Feeling behind in life

RedemptionRedemption Community Connector Posts: 4,155 Community Veteran
Someone recently said, “look at my future,” and it really hit me. It made me think more about my own situation and how long and difficult my job search has been. I’ve been trying so hard but keep facing rejection or silence, and it’s been exhausting. Everyone else seems to have jobs, earning money, gaining experience, and moving forward while I’m stuck doing this course and feeling like I’m falling behind with nothing to show for my efforts.

I want to work because having a job would give me purpose, structure, and something to feel proud of. But being stuck like this is really affecting how I see myself. I feel embarrassed, frustrated, and like I’m not good enough, and the longer it goes on, the worse it gets. Getting a job would change everything. It would give me hope, confidence, and a reason to believe things can get better. I want to do other stuff in life too and get settled with everything.

Hey @Redemption - hope you are feeling okay this afternoon

I think the key thing to remember (although easier said than done I know) is that everyone has a different journey in life. We all go through the ups and downs, good times and hard times in life - it is just a matter of when. But what you should remember is you're doing everything you can to keep progressing forwards even when things seem to be stuck and not going at the speed you would like. Your commitment to employment and securing that job is something to be admired if anything. I know sometimes when we are stuck in the moment it feels things arent going to get better - but i promise you they will. Remember to take things one day at a time and be kind to yourself in the process. You're doing everything right it is just a matter of time i'm sure.

    Sending hugs

For a good while, getting a job felt like my only purpose too, the rejection emails I would get each day really enforced the feeling when compared to others. How you feel is understandable! Good things take time, and I'm sure things will fall into place for you. How is your course going, if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers , sorry for the late reply, I just forgot, I'm not ignoring I promise. I've not started the course yet, sorry for the confusion I start next week. Hope you're ok.
