Hey everyone,
It was just on my mind how so often we hear the phrase, 'sit with your emotions' but a part of me has always wondered what that actually means! Like, how do you go about feeling your feelings? When and how is it safe to do so? What’s the 'best' way to express your emotions?
I'd be super keen to hear each of your thoughts on this, and maybe we could share some tips and tricks below. We all have unique perspectives and experiences with this so maybe we can learn from each other!
What do YOU find most helpful when it comes to expressing or 'moving-through':
Anxiety & Fear
Anger
Sadness
Shame
Happiness (because letting in joy can also be hard or scary sometimes!!)
I'd love to hear! Whether its a specific meditation you do whenever you're panicked, a grounding technique you use when you're angry, or activities like journaling or dancing?
Let’s share our wisdom!!

i like to do diamond art when i feel angry as it requires a bit of concentration so i start to move away from feeling angry and then that means that i will be able to think about what has caused me to feel angry in a better headspace!
i like to go for a walk when i feel sad - especially because i live in the countryside and near multiple beaches so it’s a super pretty place to walk! here is a picture for evidence hehehe:
i like to tidy my room when i feel shame as it helps me to feel a bit better? like my room is all tidy n clean and i just tend to feel a bit better - and like ive accomplished something too!
as for happiness, im not even sure🤣
I loved hearing about the specific things you like to do to help you move through or express each emotion. It feels like you have a lot of self-knowing with this
Doing something creative when you're angry feels like such a good tip. Esspecially because I feel like being creative kind of pushes you to just be in the here-and-now. That's so true. I really like collaging, and now that I come to think of it, getting to rip up bits of paper and to kind of make a mess when I'm angry and be creatively-destructive like that sounds kind of therapeutic!
