Self-Care

ZenZen Posts: 1,989 Extreme Poster
Hey Everyone!

I wanted to start a thread of self-care techniques that we can all use during this unusual time and continue to use to support our own mental-health. To start of, I just want to explain what self-care is for those who may not be sure.

What is self-care?
Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.

I'm going to start this thread of by commenting my own list and I hope others can share their own techniques as well!

Lovely idea! My biggest self care tip for those in school/uni, and those now working from home, is to separate your work and personal space! When you have to do any sort of work do it in a separate place from where you relax. It can help you relax easier and makes sure we keep boundaries between personal/work

This is a really awesome thread idea, thank you for sharing it!

I'll list a few of my favourite self care methods here, keep up with a routine to uphold stability and control, colouring, start a new series on Netflix (or any other streaming service!), facetime/ skype friends, have a to do list every day even if it's just small things like "wake up", "have a shower" etc, learn something new, play video games, go for a walk or dance!.

    Hey mountain peak
    Thank you for sharing!
do you have a self care box? Or a distraction or recovery box?
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

@MountainPeak apparently so haha, my comment for that day was 'when life gives you lemons, throw them at people you hate' I mean, it counts as self care right?
