Landlord Obligations

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 17,476 The Mix Honorary Guru
Hello,

A large window in my lounge lets air in the room when closed and is making the room cold.

My landlord has told me not to use the windows, rather, use the ceiling fan for air circulation.

Please help me with this as I want him to fix it, not tell me not to use it.

Not using it will still be letting wind in and I am afraid the contractor will seal it shut and stop me from using it in future

THanks

Hi localboy. Your landlord does really have responsibility for fixing repairs - especially if they're causing discomfort. You are within your rights to push on this - you could even offer to sort it yourself and take the costs off your rent payments.

Have a read of this article: Does the landlord have to repair our rented home? as it gives more detail on your rights and how best to proceed.
