Hello everyone!
A discussion was started about sex education the other day: http://vbulletin.thesite.org/showthread.php/171749-What-should-you-learn-in-sex-education, and it made me think more about this topic.
You often hear about parents sitting their children down to give them the 'birds and bees' talk, which can be a very cringe-worthy moment for most people!
But these days TV, movies, social media and friends play a huge role in how we find out about sex and the ins and outs of it.
It got me thinking, do you think it's our parents that give us the most information about sex, or do we get it elsewhere? Which is the best source of information these days?

I haven't learned about any type of sex or stuff from my parents. I've learned a lot through social media and my friends at school relating to all words I accidentally say in the wrong way to something sexual.
With Sodbaby I'm still at the stage when I'll answer her questions when she asks, rather than having the scary talk, but then she IS only four. I imagine her mother will have more of the conversation than I will.
I don't have much experience of it, but I'd have always thought that dealing with questions from small children is a lot more straight forward than older ones - if for no other reason than there's pretty much guaranteed to only be a maximum of one embarrassed person rather than t wo.
Learnt a little bit more from porn mags in the playground.
In high school we had a day where they invited people from outside of school who held lessons. We all sat in a circle of chairs (instead of usually behind desks) and just got the whole in and out of it. That's basically where the basics and intermediate knowledge comes from. At that point a lot of "what if a woman needs to pee during sex, what happens?" kind of questions popped up.
Yes, been reading that with my little nieces, they're obsessed with it atm.
Starry night - that's a great point, slang and terms for sexual activity seem to change all the time with new words being invented! Are there any that you've heard of that you didn't know of before?
I know people who had different names for parts of the body too, rather than using the words 'vagina' and 'penis', such as 'floof' and 'min'!
Has anyone come across any other names that are used for the body when talking about sex?
