Hey everyone
So something amazeballs happened, today I won a young achievers award for my volunteering. Youth net the charity that runs the site is one of the partners of the young achievers and award. Have set me and a team of other people including Andy who works for youth net a challenge to reach out to as many young people as I can about volunteering so here we are.
Volunteering for me is an opportunity to give back to people who have helped me in the past and to help others who have been in need of help and making a positive change in my community and others. Ive also raised my self confidence through volunteering. It's given me chance to gain new experiences I wouldn't normally get to experience.
what is your experience with volunteering? We'd love to hear your views. Also to help us win the challenge please ttweet #slamdunkincredible

Both organisations have affected my life in different ways, but both have helped me gain my confidence.
Being a leader for TheSite has helped me learn more about how the content is shaped to go onto TheSite.org, and being a leader has helped me gain knowledge about how to do tasks, like discussions etc. It has also helped boost my confidence with meeting new people and talking infront of others. A brilliant experience.
Friends for leisure, is an organisation that gets young people who have disabilities out and about enjoying social activities. I currently volunteer at a bowling group. This has also helped me with my confidence, having a learning disability myself, growing up I was really shy and didn't want to socialise, so when this opportunity came up through do-it I was up for signing up, it was my opportunity to help others not go through what I went through growing up, e.g not wanting to go out. I realised that I made that mistake growing up, so it's really great to help others do things, and to give them the confidence and support so they can take part in social activities.
I love volunteering, and I love helping others
and I know Andy mentioned he'll be following this thread so he can see all the replies that have been posted
I used to volunteer with Rainbows and Brownies until my units shut down Help out at my primary school every week now which I love
I'm Andy, and I work for YouthNet on the Do-it side of things so don't get to venture around TheSite too much but I am also a Trustee with Young Achievers, who awarded EmmaLee with her award yesterday.
We were on the same team for the challenge and I was really blown away with EmmaLee's post here, so yeah, just wanted to say Hi  and congratulate EmmaLee on her achievement yesterday.
Unfortunately we didn't win the challenge but it was a really fun day and great to meet so many inspirational young people.
It was a really good day and if you want to nominate someone for next year you can check out www.youngachieversawards.org
