I do not think that any person who has done their own planning would be concerned over what you are doing unless it had a direct impact on them.
(Perhaps you are in favour of a monopoly on emergency planning and procedure ?)
Their work helps things still be there so you can use your plan in an emergency.
SG's modus operandi : throws all his toys out the pram but never actually offers up a workable alternative.
All of us in the emergency services have been given different tasks in case of a catastrophe like the theoretical pandemic we're talking about, assuming we're fit and able to get to work. MOK is in management so his tasks will be different from mine, but whatever it is we're assigned to do, rest assured at some point it will have an impact on you one way or another.
I'm assuming you've got plans for getting your sick relatives some medical care? Plans for getting more food. Plans for getting fuel. Plans for getting water and electricity once they've been switched off? And once you/your family are too unwell to fend for yourselves, what then?
Pandemic and nuclear war are the 2 events that would cause a complete breakdown in society. If you and SG think the government were irresponsible for trying to lessen the impact by stockpiling drugs that it turns out they didn't need then fine. I personally think they did a good job in the circumstances, better to be prepared than not.
At least by being prepared, once people did start getting sick they could have been treated. In your and SG's ideal world there would have been no drugs "just in case" and we'd all be dead.
So pretty much he's like all the politicians he idolises
No.
I'm suggesting that you spout bollocks.
You'd be good on that radio station, occasionally referred to as, talkShite.
And if the end of the world as we know it came upon us, I am sure you would shine.
However, I would tip my hat to you if, during such end times, you had a predilection to leave be anyone who courteously declined your relief work.
I notice you're conveniently ignoring what I've written on the past about drugs, for instance. It's not actually the government that makes the drugs to deal with this. As for everyone being dead had a different course been taken - only 400 or so people died in this country from it. So the previous population of roughly 60million has turned into a current population of... well, roughly 60million. I suspect a different course would have seen a similar outcome.
EDIT: I also notice that MoK and Whowhere both advocate solutions which would give their own professions considerable power over others without necessarily justifying it. Funnily enough, they don't declare that fact...
Actually I don't need to. I get zero additional powers. If anything, at the point of a major disaster like this, my personal influence reduces and I would effectively become a taxi driver/delivery boy.
Just because you say something is fact doesn't actually mean it is. Would have been better to ask rather than accuse, non?
And you're still conveniently ignoring the whole point of planning for a what if scenario. Yes, 400 people died. It could have been a hell of a lot more. No, the government didn't make the drugs, they ordered and paid for the drugs early enough to ensure that if they were needed we would have them. You're still refusing to tell us what your big idea would have been.
You don't like our solution of stockpiling drugs in order to PREVENT our disaster management scenarios from coming true, so please for the love of God just answer the question.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE if presented with the information that we're at risk of pandemic, that it affects the young and healty (ie the workforce) and it has the potential to kill a significant proportion of the population.
Are you capable of answering the question? Do you even have an answer.
Says who?
The experts.
So you think the government should have sat back and done nothing?
There was a huge piece in the Guardian by an Oxford proff and specialist ...backed by others explaining it was no more dangerous than seasonal flu.
Many experts spoke up about it being madness.
They also said there is no way you can have a proper vaccine against any strain of flu let alone a new one.
Many experts ...couldn't speak out at the time cos of their ties to the drug companies or funding for their research.
Seems it was those people who were right.
As usual the government chose to ignore the experts.
Proffesor Nutt mentioned these people being ignored which added to his resignation.
What was the point he asked when the experts are ignored and the Daily Mail/Express are listened to instead.
You were put on the panic wagon.
I said at the begining that I wouldn't be having this jab.
In America they were talking of physically forcing people to have the thing!
You were suckered ...simple as.
Foresight was ignored ...ask prof Nutt and his mates.
Lots of resignations cos the government would rather listen to the media and the drug companies.
You were had ...it's that simple.
An awful lot of people stated ...you can shove your tamiflu up your arse ...I don't want it won't have it and don't need it thank you.
Cos they believed the experts.
To the point in America where they were threatening to use physical force on people ...take peoples kids away if they refused to let their kids be injected.
Mass vaccination from corrupt and proven liars didn't sit well with millions of people.
Some experts. You already made this comment and you posted a link to a story. I replied:
I'm not sure what your point is now though?
