This is a game to see if anyone can beat me in visual impairment! I think TheSite's regular Melian might be able to beat me :-)
-26.5 for me, one eye only (other is blind)
Take the -26.5 lens out and you're looking through a frosted glass window.

You win though!
I can't imagine how hard a -26 in only one eye must be, I do everything in my specs and don't take them off til the very last minute in bed as I can't stand to not be able to see.
How much do your lenses correct your vision, like, wearing glasses would your vision be like mine with specs (in the one eye of course)?
Is yours still getting worse, I thought mine would stop getting worse once I hit 25 but... nope.
mines -5 in one eye, -4.75 in the other
I'd hate to have to wear them all the time, we did a day at my middle school and we all had to have different body issues. Like, some people had wheelchairs, others had specail glasses that blurred your vision so you couldn't see, and some people had things to put over their ears so they couldn't hear. I had the glasses most the day, and it was soo hard!!

I'm only -0.75 & -0.5. That was a year ago. I have no idea what I am now and do dread to think - can only read the second line with my right eye with current glasses. However, someone does claim that the lens for the right eye is duff.
Can just about get buy without them in.... just. Can't imagine what -26.5 would be like
Actually, if there are any others on here with sight and hearing loss, I would like to touch base please. Numerous people have suggested sign language, but with a -26.5 lens, that ain't gonna happen. The same applies to lip-reading!
Can I ask, has your sight and hearing always been so bad? Or, has it gradually got worse?
Xx
With my lens in, I can read the first 3 lines. To Broken Angel - Yeah, my sight/hearing has been this bad since I was 5, but I think it's all stable now. Everyday life is okay. It's mainly the socialising that bugs me because I don't belong to the social circle of normal hearing people, yet because of my eyesight and inability to sign, I don't belong to the social circle of deaf people. I'm by myself, stuck somewhere between those two social groups. That's why I'm interested to see if other TheSiters were in the same boat.
There is also other information on the sense website about communicating with deaf-blind people.
What I can read on the chart does depend on how tired I am (what I have causes tiredness - extra effort is required to read) and the letters on the chart.
I have -1.5 in both eyes, with an astigmatism in the right one. Should really get an eye test soon, I've been photoshopping the date on my current one for a good couple of years now.
I have pretty good sight in that I don't need to wear my glasses to see, but when I don't, cause of the wandering, I feel kinda seasick and tired all the time, so better to be speccy
I have always worn glasses; but got that last year when my sight changed and my glasses weren't strong enough.
I need new glasses again.
ha ha I did! I got glasses in year 3 and hated them. I got them when the teacher asked my mum to take me to the opticians, then I told the teacher everything was fine with my vision. After a week of squinting still she called in my mum and asked if I really had been told I didn't need glasses. Needless to say I got forced to wear them in lessons after that
