    No, haven't.

Guess it is, unless you are insanely stoned.

Unless you are insanely drunk and have 4lbs of heavy duty fireworks. Nah, I guess that's depressing too, and pretty dangerous on top.

No but I might be this xmas day :crying:

I'm on a night shift xmas eve and my mum and dad are going to crewe to one of my sisters for the day so by the time I'm home they would have left and my other sister is having the in laws round so don't really have anywhere to go unless I gate crash my sisters :chin:

I suppose in a way it could be peaceful as you can watch what you want, have a relaxing day and just make yorself a nice dinner and get pissed :thumb:

If you can't spend Christmas with whoever you want to for whatever reason, then you need to move your Christmas. Have the celebrations the day before or day after.

it won't be the same :(

my brother's will be going to my mum's on christmas day. i normally go but obviously i can't go now because my mum has told me she never wants to see me again. i'll miss them opening up their presents and miss my little sister opening up her pressies too. and i'll miss the whole christmas lunch thing, the crackers, etc. just the whole christmas thing with your family.

my dad will probably be off to his partners house and well, my fella is going off down south to see his family.

he has suggested that i could down with him but im working until midnight on christmas eve so travelling 300 miles at that time after a 10 hour shift isn't an option really :(

any friends near by? sure they'd be more than happy for you to go to theirs for some of the day.

or couldn't your boyfriend stay with you for xmas day and go and see his family on boxing day or something?

nah. he's going down early christmas eve.

he rarely gets to spend time with his family because of the distance so he won't be cancelling on them.

and i wouldn't feel comfortable going to a friends and sitting with their family on christmas day! would feel a bit weird!

I've done it, can't say it bothers me in the slightest. Stock up on booze, chocolate, good films... a new rabbit and a fistful of porn. Self indulgence, same as any other Christmas. :)

My other half has done it when his parents went on holiday once. He spent the day in his dressing gown and had tinned chilli for lunch. He says it was the best christmas he's ever had :thumb:

Can you not go with your dad?

My parents always used to go away at christmas, used to be great! The peace and quiet was better than a proper holiday away. Our family has never been into christmas, dad always tried to make it a holiday and a party but mum and her mental health problems/scrooge like misery tended to spoil it every year so we just stopped celebrating.
So you see to me christmas is just time off work and a relax, not some marvellous family thing. Tried to spend xmas on my own but the do-gooder section decided that i couldn't possibly want to do that and made it impossible for me to refuse without being seriously rude. I ended up spending my xmas day being depressed as watching their huge xmas family get together just made me realise how weird my family was.

Sorry bit off topic there ahem

I've had a christmas alone because I was working on Christmas Eve and living a long way from family at the time. It wasn't as terrible as people have mentioned - for me Christmas is closer to Carolina's description - a chance for a holiday rather than something particularly special, so I've definately had worse Christmas Days with my family rather than alone.

As other people have suggested though it might be worth considering organising something before or after where you can get together with the family so you don't miss out on that, even if you miss out on a particular day.

nah, i don't think it would be! xmas isnt just about family - if one of my friends was going to be on their own, i'd invite them to mine and it would be absolutely fine, not weird at all!

I have, because I had nowhere to go. Not any more depressing than any other night really... Though I did order a bit of a feast to make it feel like a celebration, lol.
