Our uni recommends that you don't work any more than 15 hours a week because then it becomes detrimental to your course work.
Though I find if I attend class there is rarely a reason to read and study.
Gotta be honest though, hasn't hindered my grades yet. Give it time, give it time, I'm sure.
I wish I wasn't allowed to work
Seriously? Because I worked full time 6 days a week during the summer and I still need to work during term time.
This week, with reading, lectures, seminars, group meetings and my part time job it's 41.5 hours. It's more than last year but I find it a nice manageable amount. Still plenty of time to play computer games or socialise or go out.
I've found using a calendar more really useful because you realise how much time you waste not really doing anything - before saturday was spent doing nothing but I'm fitting in 3 hours reading from when I wake up now which for one makes me cleverer, two makes me feel like I've 'achieved' something that day and three stops me sat in bed doing nothing .
edit:
things I've found I waste far too much time doing:
- youtube
- here
- watching House from my friend's file server
- playing computer games
- staying in bed
Whilst it's all good in moderation, it's really *really* easy to just use some activities as time sinks. I'm just starting to get the hang of good time management these days, and can kick back without stress when I know it's my free time because I've got nothing hanging over me - it's either allocated to another day or I've already sorted it.
Me too
I don't understand how my dad managed to do a degree with a wife and four kids. Oh my god!
