Girlfriend In A Coma by DOuglas Coupland,
The Folded Leaf by William Maxwell (most underrated author this century, I think)
EVERYONE should read:
The reader Bernhard Schlink
Leviathan by Paul Auster
and DEFINITELY Of Mice and Men. The most moving book I've ever read, and the ending has me welling up every time.
I'm a big reader, but there's a few that've stuck in my mind as truly "great" -
-Trainspottingby Irvine Welsh
If you loved the film, you'll love the book even more. It explains a lot more of the story, and there are a lot more characters. Anything by Irvine Welsh is good.
-Catcher In The Ryeby J.D. Salinger
Holden Caulfield, the main character, has been the basis for so many films, other books, and music. His story of coming of age is timeless.
-The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith
The film was great, but the book is better. I actually felt like I was in Italy as I was reading this, and I fell in love with Tom Ripley. It's also pretty spooky.
-Going All The Way by Dan Wakefield
A post-modern Catcher, and the title should pretty much give away what its about.
-The Call of Cthulu by H.P. Lovecraft
A short story written by the man who influenced Steven King. Pretty fucking scary.
-Johnny Got Your Gun by Dalton Trumbo
The basis for Metallica's "One". It's about this soldier who looses his arms, legs, and all his five senses, but he's still alive. All he can feel is what's in his mind, it's pretty fucking sick, as well.
Well, you're probably sick of my list, but these are the ones I've read over and over. Hey, you just might like one.
"Beers grow on trees"
-Cliff Burton (RIP)
They made it into a film with Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder. After seeing the film I just had to read the book. The ending of the book is very much different to the film ending.

I also like Roots. It is a great historical book. I also liked Gone With The Wind and the sequel to it.
Recently I read Angela's Ashes and the sequel Tis and they were good books.
Last year at college we did Frankenstein and this year I'll be doing Dracula. Does anyone know if it is any good?
