I usually listen to punk and ska, but lately I;ve been drawn towards the *better* end of the metal spectrum and was wondering if any of these albums are worth buying?
LostProphets - Fake Sound of Progress
A - HiFi Serious
In other musical genres:
Can anyone recommend the Starsailor album? Dunno what it's called!
And, on a final note, if anyone wants to recommend any good ska/punk type things I might be unfamiliar with that would be great! Sorry for the long post, but music is important!

I could go on forever about ska/punk bands for ya. Have you checked out reel big fish? Saw em twice live this month and they're veery cool and funny.
Goldfinger? Dashboard confessional? AFI? bouncing souls? jesse james?
Millions more, when i've got more time we can talk about it, seeya for now!
Well, Reel Big Fish are my favourite band in the whole world, so I have checked them out yeah!
Thinking about getting some AFI stuff, have been for a while, so thanks for that recommendation. Jesse James are great, saw them at Northumbria uni last week with 4ft fingers and Lightyear which was a great gig.
Anyone recommend Bracket? I've heard they're pretty good and was thinking of getting their live in a dive CD.
theres a band that little known called fenix tx and I only listened to them for the first time yesterday but they are pretty cool. Especially the song titled thressome...
If you like the songs (ie. you're mad) so far, then buy it.
Lost Prophets, dear god, if they make enough noise maybe we won't notice that he can't sing. I like to think that this is fooling no one.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend punk/ska bands which I haven't heard of, ie underground bands, rather than just naming all my favourite bands, who are if we're honest, pretty well known in punk/ska circles!
And I like Starsailor as a bit of easy listening, sometimes I just want to chill and find you can't really chill to punk rock, as for Lostprophets, I saw them live last year and they blew me away!
However, I must reiterate, I still hate metal :-)
save ferris
letters to cleo
h20
mad caddies
mustard plug
the hippos
alkaline trio
kosher
operation ivy
bad religion
the juliana theory
You could try some of those.
I love RBF! and Goldfinger! And Dashboard Confessional! And i've seen the bouncing souls (must get some of their stuff!).
Heheh, sorry, just amazed to find someone into this sorta music. All my mates are either too extreme (Death Metal fans) or too mainstream (the amount of times that Mystique has been played in the 6th form block... )
Where did you see Reel Big Fish? I caught them in Chelmsford last thursday and they really rocked out!
Bumblebee, have you heard any stuff by Capdown? They're a cool ska band Can't really say I know any other underground ska bands
letters to cleo - yeah, I might try them, thanks
h20 - again, great band
mad caddies - seen them live, very entertaining!
mustard plug - not too keen
the hippos - I might try em cos a few people have recommended them , cheers
alkaline trio - my god, this band could not be any better!
kosher
operation ivy - very cool band
bad religion - at last, someone who likes Bad Religion!
the juliana theory - never heard of them, what kinda music they makin?
Well, you've found us now, we like that sort of music! And I sympathise with your situation! At sixth form all we got was dance, trance and garage, ahhhhhhh! At uni the lad who lives downstairs plays Westlife til 4am!
I don't really like Capdown. Tried them but wasn't too compelled but I would still go to see them live, just to support the scene!
I saw RBF at Leeds festval last year. I wanted to see them on tour this month but they didn't play anywhere near me (north east) and I have to work a lot! I would have gone to see them support Sum41, just because I love them that much (I would have left after RBF out of principle, them being the better band and all!)
Aww, I think we should start a little punk rock community!
Which uni do you go to? I have to put it on my 'not to go to list' j/k
Although the thought of Westlife at 4am does make me shudder...
The lad plays Westlife downstairs, we get Dido 24/7 from the girl next door, and from the lad on the other side we get either Top Gun OST or Meat Loaf, and yes, this is all at 4am in the morning!
