http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article2414656.eceOSAMA BIN LADEN has intervened in the debate on climate change, showing a new-found interest in green issues, in a video speech marking the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
In his first video appearance since 2004, the Al-Qaeda leader blamed western “capitalist corporations” for global warming which he said was leading to the “death and displacement of millions of human beings”, especially in Africa.
[...]The terror leader’s interest in green issues caused some surprise. “The life of all of mankind is in danger because of the global warming resulting to a large degree from the emissions of the factories of the major corporations. Yet despite that, the representative of these corporations in the White House insists on not observing the Kyoto accord,” Bin Laden intoned.
Maybe he will suceed where every nation and scientist have failed in opening the eyes of Americans ...

Of course he's been helped greatly by the fact that the current US government is one of the worst.
And even if a few people did not care about other people's lives, I should imagine the environmental damage produced by the 9/11 atrocities are not going to win him any friends either.
How much political support did the likes of Irish Repulicans get, noth in the US and from UK socialists?
It's amazing how big things can be swept under the carpet for political expediency comes to the fore. It works on the other side of the coin too, as the debate about global warming and - for example - my acceptance of deaths in return for longer term democracy...
