I want to try some CBT to help me deal with some issues I have with self esteem but Im not sure how to find a decent ?practitioner?
I went to see my gp today but they werent much help and just told me to look on the internet :mad:
does anyone here have any advice or experience of cbt?

Yeah, change GPs.
CBT is usually available through local mental health services and/or counselling services. Sadly GPs don't pay enough attention to this or try to fob people off because the waits can be very high...
she said i had to have an official diagnosis of a mental illness to be referred from the GP - she was a locum btw and doesnt know the area so couldnt recommend someone to go private with.
im trying an online cbt thingy (moodgym) which seems ok but if i get stuck (eg - list 10 occasions this week when youve done something nice for youself) then im stuck - noone to help!
Your GP is right though; because of the demand for it, they often reserve it for people with diagnosed illnesses. Another option could be NHS counselling maybe?
Just keep pressing the issue if you need it.
