Hey! I wanted to give some of you guys a hint on where to study, and especially if you want to study abroad, or in a new upcoming country, such as Poland.
I'll be graduating this year from my undergraduate program, it only took 3 years and I'll get an American BA as well as a polish diploma.
Of course, college is college, and there is stress, but the people are great. I've met so many awesome people here, and not just Poles, but people from Germany, China, Italy, France, Spain, Turkey, Canada, the Netherlands, and bah! SO MANY MORE!
If you guys have any questions, post them here, otherwise I'd be happy to write you an email.. haha if I find the time! (It's exam session!!) :nervous:
Oh yeah, my University is: WSB-NLU

Poland (or what I have seen of it) is nice i found the people very friendly - hence wanting to go back
Hey! No you don't have to speak Polish. Sadly I've been here for almost 3 years and haven't been able to perfect the language. You have classes as a second language, but everyone speaks English so it's hard to be forced to learn. Of course I had to learn how to say "please- one beer" but you learn that on the first day.
Poland's an awesome place to visit as it's cheaper than other European countries and it has it's own special feeling. An added bonus is that Poles appreciate people from abroad, and are super nice with helping you with questions. All young people speak English, they just might be a bit nervous at first.
I'd totally recommend Krakow or Warsaw, oh yeah and make sure you go to see the Tantra Mountains! They're amazing.
However, the language is a funny one. I have attempted to learn Polish and really, really struggled - it's tough.
A lot of young people speak English but I found that you need to have a Polish phrasebook with you at all times, especially initially. The majority of people working in your average shop or taking your ticket on the train or passing you by in the street won't speak English - or will speak extremely little English - and it's quite bewildering if you happen to ask the wrong person (I should know ). Anyone speaking really good English in Poland probably either teaches it, works for an internat company or is a student so look for that lot. They are always willing to help when they see someone from abroad trying and failing to buya loaf of bread
Speaking of bread, you haven't lived 'til you've tried the range of bread in Poland. Fuck costcutter white sliced! Also getting shitfaced on a fiver while drinking really good beer (rather than the three bottles of Lambrini you'd have to invest in here) was quite enjoyable!
Polish people are indescribably friendly - I wanna go back :thumb:
Beer is great here, and if you've tried "Strong" for less than a euro you'll be shocked how after just one you're knocked on your ass (one is almost equal to a bottle of wine). It lacks in taste, but gets the party going.
can anyone recommend the best time of year to go? Im think of heading to Krakow - been there before but not for long enough and would love to see more of the city
Hey guys, I am truely a student, and everything I said is definetly true,. but I came on here to firstly just let people know about my school. I'm not getting paid for it, I just want to get my school's name out there. BECAUSE NO ONE HAS HEARD OF IT! I was providing truthful information, so I'm not sure if it can truely be considered spam.
Still feel free to look around and have a gander at the rest of the boards
